Perlu dipahami sepenuhnya bahwa pendidikan
sangatlah penting untuk membentuk dan menyiapkan sumber daya manusia yang
berkualitas baik dari segi spritual, intelegensi dan skill sebagai generasi
penerus bangsa yang bermoral untuk menggerakkan roda pembangunan disemua bidang
kehidupan. Didalam UU No.20/2003 tentang Sistem Pendidikan Nasional, tercantum
pengertian pendidikan: “pendidikan adalah usaha sadar dan terencana untuk
mewujudkan suasana belajar dan proses pembelajaran agar peserta didik secara
aktif mengembangkan potensi dirinya sehingga memiliki kekuatan spiritual
keagamaan, pengendalian diri, kepribadian, kecerdasan, akhlak mulia, serta
keterampilan yang diperlukan oleh dirinya, masyarakat, bangsa dan negara”.
Hal ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa Pendidikan merupakan hal yang sangat penting
dan tidak bisa lepas dari kehidupan.
Bidang
pendidikan seharusnya ditangani secara terpadu, baik dari segi anggaran,
fasilitas maupun dari segi sumber daya manusianya sehingga pendidikan yang
berkualitas dapat direalisasi dengan baik. Pendidikan yang berkualitas
memanglah tidak murah atau gratis, tetapi harus ada keinginan yang bulat untuk
menemukan solusi terbaik. Dalam hal ini pemerintahlah yang harus menjawabnya,
dan sebenarnya pemerintah berkewajiban untuk menjamin setiap warganya
memperoleh pendidikan terutama masyarakat bawah untuk memperoleh pendidikan
bermutu.
Pertanyaannya sekarang, apakah kondisi di
atas sudah terlaksana dengan baik ? Anda tentu memiliki jawaban tersendiri.
Tetapi yang jelas bagaimanapun hasilnya hendaknya pendidikan tetap harus
dipandang sebagai sebuah kebutuhan dan keharusan untuk memicu perkembangan
suatu bangsa.
Dari beberapa instrument pendidikan, maka yang
paling menentukan adalah seorang Guru;
Guru merupakan faktor penentu kualitas
pendidikan dan sangat berperan dalam menentukan kehidupan manusia. Menjadi
seorang guru sesungguhnya merupakan profesi yang cukup rumit dan mulia, oleh
karena membutuhkan kesabaran, ketulusan dan dedikasi dalam membimbing siswa
untuk menjadi manusia yang cerdas. Menurut Parker Palmer dalam bukunya The
Courage to Teach (2003): guru bukan sekedar melakukan pekerjaan biasa, tetapi
juga memenuhi panggilan hati dan melakukan perjalanan spiritual.
Seorang guru yang baik ibarat mata air; dia
menggunakan dirinya untuk memberi manfaat kepada orang lain dan tidak pernah
habis manfaat yang diberikannya.
Dalam dunia pendidikan serta kaitannya dengan

School dalam Bahasa Inggris.

Quality education is indeed not cheap or free, but there must be a unanimous desire to find the best solution.
